Is it worth it? It's annoying me, but it's funny, too. I'm struggling. Anyone else read it?

I have it to read, bought it because in the review said it was similar to A Confederacy of Dunces which I loved.

Hmmm. I liked Confederacy of Dunces, too. But I basically don't remember anything about it. (I'm often like that.)

Well, go start reading it now, and let me know, ok?

I'll keep slogging away, honest ...

Yes Mam

I loved it - couldn't put it down!

I really, really enjoyed this - didn't notice it being as long as it actually was. But I can see why it might make other people want to throw it across the room.

I just thought it was an interesting idea - not so much the central story, what with so many unsympathetic characters, but the way it is told, with the competing narratives of journals, biography, autobiography, oral history.... etc. The hb has resurfaced recently on the review-copies-to-go shelf at work and I'm seriously considering swiping it (borrowed my copy from the library).

NQC well I have started and not slogging but its not grabbing me madly like Confederacy did.
