No. but I did love the film.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 18/02/2009 18:01

Oh good. The book was so good I can't imagine how it could live up to it.

Yes! It's great, isn't it?

I thought of recommending it on the Iranian revolution thread/Khomeini joke thread the other night but thought everyone would have read it already.

My ds stole it and read it too. He enjoyed it. And I've lent it to two other people with the same result.

"The Siege of Azadhi Square" by Many Shirazi is good, too.

Haven't seen the film yet.

(Excuse enthusiastic, ungrammatical raving.)

loved the film, must try the book. Am a big graphic novels fan. Have you ever read any Posy Simmonds, Kathy?

Kathyis6incheshigh · 19/02/2009 08:51

Yes, I love Posy Simmonds. I have a lot of the earlier ones and the children's stuff, though her later ones don't appeal so much - probably mainly because I am not so interested in the subject matter of Gemma Bovery etc.

She draws small children better than anyone else in the world IME.

I mean 'IMO'!

Meh. There are better graphic novels out there. Fun Home, for one.

jujumaman · 19/02/2009 09:16

What does meh mean? Have never worked it out

WinkyWinkola · 19/02/2009 09:23

I enjoyed Persepolis - its beauty is its simplicity.

I think these are also great reads:

Maus

or this:

Palestine

NotQuiteCockney · 19/02/2009 09:25

'Meh' is a shrug, a noise of indifference. I didn't like it much, I read it, and I got rid of it.

bellabelly · 19/02/2009 09:32

It is brill and so is the film (was worried the film wouldn't live up to the book!)

eandz · 19/02/2009 09:52

yes, yes i did. i read it last year. it was good.

anyone know if there will be a sequel to the movie? there are soo many things left out of the series.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 19/02/2009 10:16

How far does the narrative in the film go up to? Does it include the second part where she goes to Vienna and then comes back and gets married?

OP posts:
jujumaman · 19/02/2009 10:27

Yes, it covers all that

Oh, so meh doesn't stand for anything in particular. I knew what it signifies but thought it was short for something like much excecrable hostility or something similar.
