100 pages in and it's bad bad bad. It may well join the list of books I have started and never finished

1. Crime and Punishment
2. The secret
3. The shack

But if you can persevere with Crime and Punishment it is worth it. It took me about six years between starting, stopping and eventually finishing!

And no, probably better not to take recommendations from teenagers.
