Just finished this and thought it was blah.

Did I miss something?

I read the lovely bones and that was much better.

I bought this on the strength of her other books. Iirc, I never finished Almost Noon as I couldn't get into it. I was very disappointed.

My mum was dying at the time so couldn't face it....

It was such a disapointment as I'd saved it for a 'Good Read'..you know when you know you'll have a chance to read without interuption. I think I'd have been able to cope with the subject if the writing had been better.
