You must read: What I talk about when I talk about Running. Brilliant. I don't like running (found this in the sports section in Waterstones) but it doesn't matter. It's a brilliant little book on the surface about Murakami's obsession with marathon and long-distance running but on a deeper level about obsessions, endurance, tenacity, creativity, achievement, and it even talks about existence. He does mention a well, once near the end I think. He doesn't talk about spaghetti though, or cats, ears or any of the other usual Murakamisms. I devoured this book in just a couple of hours. Brilliant!
