'all in the mind' by alistair campbell

anyone read it? just been given to me HIGHLY reccommended - wondered if there were any more reliable m'netter reviews.

Not read it but saw the documentary he made about it (or, rather, about his breakdown). It was mildly interesting but probably wouldn't tell you anything you don't already know about mental health, I'd guess (I certainly found it a bit meh.) Maybe the book has more meaty stuff about his Downing St job? Although his breakdown occurred when he was working at the Daily Mirror, so perhaps not.

BTW I saw an explanation of bishy barney bees in the Guardian the other day - something about Norfolk and ladybirds? Anyway I thought of you.

Is that the novel he has written? Or an autobiography?

Novel. I haven't read it, but Jenny Diski's review in the LRB made me laugh a LOT.

Am going to get it and read it. Secretly quite like Alastair Campbell (sheepish emoticon).

it is very very good - one chapter to go and have sailed through.

am wondering how much actually happened to him rather than being fiction.

oh golly it is good - i think there is stuff here that is so well written about - depression and stuff. Obv there are some holes but he really is able to communicate some really dark stuff.

I am impressed indeed.
