The Reader

I read this yesterday and thought that it was a really good book, an interesting story and I was really "with" Michael when he went to collect Hanna from the prison (trying not to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it yet).

What did everyone else think of it?

I've not seen the film btw, anyone read the book then seen the film?

I read the book (in the original german) in my early 20s, it did strike a chord with me I guess at that age I was quite impressionable. I would like to see the film I don't think it will ruin it for me since I read it over 10 years ago.

I too read this book over 10 years ago in German as part of my degree. The films not out yet, but will definitely go and see it -the book was great!

I'm starting a bookclub and was going to have The Reader as the first book. Do you think this would be a good one to start with, considering that the film is going to come out shortly?
