The Olive Readers by Christine Aziz - hit or miss?

An acquaintance raved about this book to me earlier this week and I saw it in a charity shop for £2 yesterday so thinking it was fate (since I'd never heard of it before) I bought it. But looking on amazon when I got home the reviewers seem to think it wasn't up to much at all. Should I read it or put it to the bottom of my 'will read one day, yeah right' pile?

What can I say? It must be either so good that it is above comment or it is so rubbish you can't believe someone has lowered themselves far enough to deem it worthy of a mention here! I'll just have to read it to find out...

We had it on our book club on here and I read it - thought it was good, if a little far fetched, and the end finished too quicly, leaving unanswered questions!

I always feel that any book is worth a try - you will never know - and we all like different things!
