Totally fantastic and so cheering.

Is it that good? Haven't read it, but keep noticing it. I generally steer clear of self-help literature but keep getting the impression I should have read this one

it's definitely not self-help in the trad sense, in fact it's in the travel section in Waterstones. She visits Italy, India and Bali and discovers herself along the way after a divorce.

Genuinely good writing, funny and sad in turns and just the right amount of self-absorption

It's that good I've now bought it for three people and I haven't done that since 'the passion' by Jeanette Winterson 15 years ago

I really liked it, thought it was really well-written. It was a book club choice and a few people disliked it on account of her being a "self obsessed whinging Yank".

Worth a read though!

I saw the author on Oprah talking about the book. She came across as very intelligent and funny.
