Nothing too heavy but not chick lit - want to be able to dip in and out of them on the plane/beach, etc.

I've recently read and enjoyed;

The Book Thief
A Quiet Belief In Angels
No Time For Goodbye
Notes From An Exhibition
Crow Lake and The Other Side Of The Bridge
Year Of Wonders
Twilight series

Anything along those lines would be great.

Try Jane Green books. Not amazing but okay enough for holiday reads.

I've read (and enjoyed) four off your list, so how about The Outcast by Sadie Jones, and the Kite Runner but your've prob read that!

I must be the last person who hasn't read The Kite Runner. Have reserved it from the library already (economy drive) but am in a long queue - think I may get it before 2010. Will see if there's a shorter wait for the others. Thanks.

I recently read "A History of Tractors in Ukrainian" and "Two Caravans" by Marina Lewycha. Both were lent to me on recommendation from my mum and were very enjoyable and laugh out loud in parts.

Good light read for hols.

Have you tried Tescos - they often sell books for about £4. I've had some good ones from there recently.

When I get home, I'll post up some titles.

Have you read "March"? I think it is by the same person who wrote "Year Of Wonders". It's about the father from "Little Woman" in the American Civil War.

Also, have you read any Liz Jensen? www.amazon.co.uk/gp/tagging/glance/liz%20jensen
"The Ninth Life Of Louis Drax" is very good; the others not quite so good.

SKSS- have you heard of readitswapit.co.uk- Ive only just registered, its a website where you can list your books and swap them-just for the price of postage of the book you want to swap. I only joined 3 days ago and have 4 books on their way to me-very exited about them. Its great for those of us on a bit of a budget!

Ive recently enjoyed :
The outcast
The time travellers wife
MonsterLove(hideously disturbed but compelling rather than enjoyed).
