Will anyone join me in mourning the late, great David Foster Wallace?

Just found out he committed suicide on Friday. I will be eternally grateful for him for Infinite Jest, and am terribly sad to think I'll never now read his next great novel. Don't particularly expect any response but I wanted it to be out there what a tragedy I think this is.

Oh that's sad. I've read 1 of his books, the Hideous Men one, and have had Infinte Jest in my Amazon basket for ages.

I only just heard the news. Really sad for him and his family. Infinite Jest is an amazing book.

Sputnik - read it, read it, read it! I took about a month over the first chapter and from then on was utterly enthralled. You know when a book is like a secret lover (I imagine... I've never had the latter) and you can't wait to get back to it. It is an absolutely extraordinary feat of intellect and a captivating and hysterically funny experience to boot. If it's any endorsement, the minute I finished it I went on Amazon and bought four extra copies so I could press it fervently into the hands of any visitors who showed the slightest interest.

I had no idea, how awful. I loved Infinite Jest - it has the best description imaginable of how it feels to be depressed - I suppose poor DFW knew only too well what it's like to stare into that abyss.

Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck.

I can't believe this.

Infinite Jest is one of my favourite novels ever.
