Life of Pi (WARNING SPOILERS!!!)

Just finished reading Life of Pi - wow what a book.

Just wondered which version of Pi's story did people believe/prefer?

As I read the book, I always assumed the adventure was symbolic so was relieved when Pi gave the investigators the non-animal version. Although the animal version was defiantly the 'better story'

Opinions please

It's an amazing book. Part one is a bit slow, after that I couldn't put it down. Enjoy.

I loved this book. I kind of thought that the whole thing was about "faith". At the beginning he investigates all these religions and takes a little bit of each and forms his own ideas about what he believes. He tells the insurers what he thinks they want to hear and basically says if you don't like this truth then heres one you might like more. whats "true" isn't as important as what you believe to be true.
I believe the animal version- is a better story and just cos its hard to believe doesn't make it not true.

Does that sound really wanky? Actually the whole thing is fiction

I agree that the animal story was the better story but I didn't believe it was the true version of Pi?s adventure.

I thought the animal story was similar to the biblical stories the priest told Pi. Although both sound far-fetched, they can both be seen as symbolic and having value without being taken literally.
