I don't read chicknits but I need some recommendations

Not very original, but Bridget Jones reamins my fave 'chicklit'

(have to add that I hate 'chicklit')

Pleasant vices by Judy Astley - not keen on any f her other books but this one made me laugh out loud on the bus

Jemima J by Jane Green

Anything by Emlyn Rees and Josie Lloyd

Mike Gayle's early ones

The Shopaholic books by Sophie Kinsella

Also like Lisa Jewell and Marian Keyes

Adele Parks is also good.

Jane Green and Marian Keyes (Watermelon made me laugh out loud) Katie Ford also makes me laugh.

Thanks everyone, my friend is in hospital and I know that she likes chicklits so I thought I'd get her a few to pass the time.
I know she hasn't had any time for reading recently so if I buy her new ones it should be ok.

Does anyone know if anywhere has any offers on at the moment?

Bridget Jones? She has a lot to answer for - what are we supposed to respect about a woman too lazy to work who thinks shagging her boss is a good idea?

Marian Keys - laugh out loud funny with a serious thoughtful side.

Tesco is having a lot of offers on a lot of different books at the moment (£10 for Devil May Care instead of closer to £20). Don't know if they include chicklits, but expect they do.

Mummy said the F word by Fiona Gibson. very funny-couldn't put it down.

Jane Green also very readable.

Marian Keyes is fab.

Also Louise Bagshawe writes some very glamorous pageturners.

Prob not on special offer but think she is one of the best authors around at the moment. Hilarious truthful writing about parenthood. Not sure if your friend is a parent?!!

She also writes non fiction - "The fish finger years" is brilliant too.

Ultimate chick lit to me will always be Jay Cee.

Nobody would have dissed her in a field at Glastonbury.

I like Marian Keyes, but think she's not as good as she was - she's actually a bit lewd now IMO! I like Catherine Alliott.

I am not sure that it is chick lit per se, but it is certainly a light and easy read (I don't do serious literature)...but it is also quirky and original rather than formulaic and predictable (which a lot of chick lit can be)
