This Johnathan Coe that everyone talks about. Tell me more. Or recommend something else. Preparing an Amazon order.

I just read Notes from an Exhibition. It was good.

What do you usually like?

nkf · 10/07/2008 18:31

A wide range really. I'm a very fast reader. I don't read misery lit or science fiction but that's about my only no nos. I have read some chick lit but I won't buy it unless it's 20p in a charity shop.

How about crime?

Ihavelayers · 10/07/2008 18:32

A thousand splendid suns is amazing .

Robertson Davies, especially The Cornish Trilogy or the Deptford Trilogy. They are great.

I love crime fictin but I'm kind of mean about that too. I can read a crime novel so quickly that I tend to buy them second hand.

You should use the library then reserve them all online ,it will save you a fortune by the sounds of it .

nkf · 10/07/2008 19:26

Er...I do use the library.

I can't afford to use the library . On account of the fact that I am physically incapable of returning books on time - so the last time i had books out it cost me £40 for three childrens books. Now my DD has a library card [proud] as of today, we can take books home and read them. But she has hundreds, literally hundreds - it was 150 last count - this is because i cannot walk past a second hand shop without buying her a book, DP is quite about it.

Me too. The fees I pay would often have bought the book several times over.
