What books are you hoping to get for Christmas?

[Georgiemc]

Looking for inspo for gifts (and to add to my own TBR list..)

Currently looking at the Penguin Mermaid Collection re-releases.

The new Ben Macintyre spy book Redwood.

DH bought me the last one two years ago and I loved it. I might need him to go to the airport for an airport version though as I really strongly dislike hardback books. Love an airport version though.

Airport versions are the best!

Oooo I like the look of the mermaid collection OP! Will definitely be adding some of those to my Christmas list.
I have Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman and The Shadows of Kensington Gore by Ross Montgomery firmly on my Christmas list.

I am very intrigued by Dungeon Crawler Carl, quite tempted to buy a copy for my husband (and read it after!)

@Georgiemc same. I'm very intrigued by it, its not the sort of thing I'd normally read, but I'm trying to expand my reading palate and try new genres!
Ha ha! That's a good plan! I'd do the same, but its usually DH who nabs my books after I've read and waxed lyrical about them! 😆

The new Nikita Gill ‘Styx: The River’ and Gabrielle Zevin’s ‘The Storied Life of AJ Fikry’ are the ones I would like.

Black Bag
Other Worlds Than These
The Unselected Journals of Emma Lion

I'm sure there's more...also intrigued by DCC!

I want Father Christmas to bring me https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/235992723-capitalism-is-sexism

Murder at the Alpine Hotel - Lucy Foley
The Agatha Christie Cure - Cathy Retzenbrick

Ohh lots! The graphic versions of Yoval Noah Harari (Sapiens, etc) - I keep trying to get into them but never get time, and I feel like DS9 might grow into them. Secrets by Bob Woodward (his memoirs). Indefensible by John Hyde (the Post Office scandal, from the lawyers perspective). Johnny Mercer’s No Way to Run A country, Mark Rober’s Extreme Engineering.

I’m hoping for the hardback of Land by Maggie O’Farrell.

I really would love to receive Judila Illes Encyclopaedia of 5000
spells. Looks great fun for the coffee table and might try a few, see how I get on

I'm hoping for Royal Witch by Philippa Gregory.... Just love how she writes!

@Silverbird5 did you hear her on Women's Hour? It really piqued my interest - especially when she was talking about the economic contribution of women in history.

I was just given a polish folk and magic book for my birthday so I would absolutely love, love, love a folklore book with all the old stories.

Also: Help the Witch by Tom Cox.

Melissa Auf der Maur's autobiography Even The Good Girls Will Cry. I heard her talking to Billy Corgan (who I find something of a PITA) and she came across so well. I'm not much of a Smashing Pumpkins fan but I love Hole and it will have been interesting times.

Similar theme I was hoping for Jennifer Finch's but that's not out until January...so gutted I didn't get to see L7 - I had a ticket but covid screwed that over and doubt they'll be back now. Not the same without her anyway.

Very different theme I have recently learnt of Fitzcarraldo Editions and am curious about what they have to offer.

Off to Google everyone else's titles.

@Autumnallaround this book was serialised on Radio 4 recently, still available on BBC Sounds
