DD not a huge reader but does occasionally read novels. She read and enjoyed One Day recently and has bought Normal People but not got into it. Any suggestions along these lines - easy but grown up reads, sex fine but nothing too explicit (not Fifty shades!), she's bored by romance which is what I loved at that age, said no to the classics. Thank you

Maybe one of David Nicholl’s other novels? I enjoyed Starter for Ten. Also Nick Hornby is kind of a similar style. I loved High Fidelity at that age.

My dd and her friends (15) are all reading the Chloe Walsh series based on the boys of Tommen. The first one is Binding 13. My daughter has read the first two and is already going back to read the first.

Would she like 'A Deadly Education' by Naomi Novik? It's a fantasy set in a magic school but the protagonist 'El' is a really glowering, down to earth teenage loner. I enjoyed it as an adult, but it's very YA. The beginning line is I decided that Orion needed to die after the second time he saved my life." which is a great start to a book!

It's about trying to actually survive in a school where things are attempting to kill you at every turn.

We were liars. E Lockhart. It’s a young adult book but I thoroughly enjoyed it-you can read it too and talk about it. There is a reveal 3/4 of the way through and I really didn’t see it coming. It’s excellent

Has she read "I Capture the Castle", by Dodie Smith? Bittersweet first love story with a quirky family background and an appealing narrator. It's an old one but has stayed in print. There's also a good film of it, starring Romola Garai.

Maybe try her with Lynn Painter's books? Very enjoyable, well written rom coms.
