books about puberty?

Does anyone have any recommendations? Looking for something suitable for a mother who is horrified at the thought of her 8yo daughter showing signs of maturing already.

Oh, Jmb, I was thinking of posting along this very same line!! I've taken dd to the Dr to rule out any problems so I guess I now have to educate her. We've had a chat but I don't think she took it in at all. All the books I've looked at are for older children, with lots of print and far too much detail. Apart from that, there's Babette Cole's 'Hair in Funny Places' but I think that might scare dd. Any ideas, anyone?

DD1 had Have You Started Yet? at primary school, all her friends borrowed it and thought it was great - there is a review from the mother of a 9-yr-old at the bottom.

I had a really good book when I was little called What's happening to me? or something like that but can't find it on amazon or anywhere else. Anyone heard of it? The same author/s wrote a book about where babies come from as well. it's driving me mad now, must find it!

I posed a similar question a few months ago and bought Babette Cole's Hair in Funny Places as a result - for my 9 year old daughter. Would definitely recommend it.

Thanks for the suggestions - I hope Jmb comes back and sees them! I looked at 'Have You Started Yet' on Saturday but it's too detailed for dd at 8 - she's pretty naive and I think it would overwhelm her. And the 'Hair in Funny Places' - she'd freak at the thought of Mr&Mrs Hormone rampaging about her body!! Will take a trip into town this week and look for the other two ideas.
