I’m looking for a really good reading lamp

I’m being stalked on social media by Serious Reader lamps but they are incredibly expensive!
I really want a good lamp, preferably table lamp ready for the winter evenings

Should I spend £200 or are there things as good in a lower price range?

Get one. They are brilliant for ageing eyes!

I've got a Mornington floor lamp - they are along the same lines as Serious Readers, but £159 compared with £349 for SR. So you still have to dig deeper than you would for a little thing from Argos for when you want a bit of ambient light for the TV, but it sounds like you're anticipating that anyway. The Mornington lamp has a nice, creamy white light, not a hint of the dingy yellow that affects a lot of overhead lights and it makes reading a lot easier and more pleasurable, even with atrocious reading vision like mine.

Spend what you can afford. Looks like it's the bulb that is special so buy one of those and save on the lamp itself unless you particularly the look of it.

Keep an eye out for deals with Serious Readers- they are often on offer. Honestly mine has made a huge difference to my eye strain.

I think you lot have just enabled me! I will look at the Mornington alternatives too. Thanks. For once something on social media that’s worth the hype!

Another vote for the Serious Readers one. Expensive, but so worth it. Save up rather than spend money on something not as good.
