yogabird · 27/06/2008 13:38

spooky! I loved 5 people and am reading this book will save your life at the moment! although not really enjoying it, whizzing through it nicely but it's not gripping and not yet uplifting yet

Ahem yogabird. I hope you are not talking about the Second Chapter bookclub.

I thought you liked my book

Flamesparrow · 27/06/2008 21:02

Join Me - Danny Wallace, or Yes Man (but it is best to have read JM first)

dansmumscot · 27/06/2008 22:32

Oh, Five people is great too. Really sweet and touching. A must read too.

dansmumscot · 27/06/2008 22:33

This book will save your life is BRILLIANT! Totally quirky, funny and surreal. Definately read it. Lots to talk about too.

My dp read 5people and loved it and so i suggested it for my book group and everyone hated it(except me)It was so weird this thread certainly makes me feel better

yogabird · 30/06/2008 15:20

wheresthehamster...did love yours, honest. This is a book group in RL and I've hated Atonement aND pOISONWOOD bIBLE oops caps! I want some fun and uplifting stuff for now. Still unsure on THis Book WIll Save ... and I've only got about 20 pages left. It's ok and i've enjoyed it enough to keep going but it's just not really grabbed and engaged me unlike LAst DAys of Dogtown/Red Tent etc..

ANy more anyone? (Having a bit of trouble with CAPs lock today!

I have really enjoyed the Christopher Brookmyre thriller/comedy Attavck of the Unsinkable Rubber Ducks this year. It kind of lampoons the world of psychic fraudsters, and is always intelligent but never dull. Genuinely funny and exciting too...I read and actually enjoy all sorts as I work in a bookshop and my taste is pretty eclectic, and if I feel like a break from ploughing through the bookclub worthies but don't want to drown in saccharrine, Brookmyre is a good place to start!
