I am trying to cut down on book spending but I have just deleted a load of nonsense from my prime library and am looking for ideas to follow.

I LOVE Kirsten Hannah recently, so now anything I go to seems wrong. 😑

I did a search earlier and

the Alice network was recommended and is free on prime at moment.

any other gems people have come across?

i follow lots of threads here, don’t mind funny, lighter stuff as long as well written. Loved American dirt, enjoy Amanda Prowse, not so keen on the jumpy time books, back and forth.

Liane Moriarty- Here One Moment
T.M Logan- The Weekend

Use Bookbub. It’s superb. You put in your preferences and they come up with lots of 99p suggestions, including top selling books.

pinkdyno · 30/07/2026 21:03

thanks all.

read the weekend.

Will get here one moment.

have the summer island but saving it.

just seem to have managed to fill mine with free stuff and then end up hating reading.

Just had a scan back on mine and tall oaks chris Whitaker is on prime again.

not as good as all the colours of the dark but good.

I need to learn to stop downloading books with few reviews 🤷‍♀️but then sometimes a cracker comes along

I know you already have your eye on the Alice Network, but it is superb, as are most of Kate Quinn’s follow-ups. Definitely snap that one up

If you have prime have you worked through all the free prime reading books and are you getting the monthly free one?

deedee176 · 30/07/2026 22:43

Libraries lend audiobooks free! Join and listen to books you chose to. The Libby app is brilliant

labradorservant · 30/07/2026 22:44

I make a wish list and check it every day. The new Clare mckintosh was 99p today. On 1st on the month quite a few go to 99p! Ps what did you think of the weekend??? I have so many questions about the ending..

deedee176 · 30/07/2026 22:45

The Correspondant, Theo of Golden - recent and fabulous imho

@FeliciaFancybottom thank you so much for that link!

Some absolutely fantastic books on that link with quality authors. £3.00 on 3 great books for me 😁. Had to stop at 3 as possible to get a bit silly...

I've tried Bookbub and set my preferences to crime fiction.
About 20% of the 99p or free books were fine.
Sadly 80% were dire and got deleted.

Don't know if this is typical and they're just trying to palm us off with shite books.

I use this for cheap Kindle books, they change every month Kindle monthly deals
Kristin Hannah - Summer Island is currently on offer.
I also check the daily deals.

Thank you for that link, I’m 5 books the richer! Grin

I tried that but hardly any books I wanted to read were available if they were the waiting list was months long then you got a 3 week window to read the book. This is a large city council library.

Like a PP I look at Kindle daily deals and my wish list each day and buy the books I want when they're 99 p.

inkgirl · 31/07/2026 05:56

I loved the ritual, couldn't put it down. Read it in a week, loved it so much I went and bought a physical copy

pinkdyno · 31/07/2026 08:02

Yes I do go to the library every week and the kids certainly get most of their books from there. Adult section not as good but occasionally they have something.
