Which Ann Patchett is your fave?

For Ann Patchett fans...

I have just read and absolutely loved Whistler.

Previously I've only read The Dutch House (which I liked, but not as much as Whistler) and Tom Lake (which I found very dull and DNF).

So... which should I read next?

I loved Bel Canto.

Bel Canto is a masterpiece IMO.

I haven't even bothered trying to read any of her other books after disliking The Dutch House.

Just finished Bel Canto. It feels slow but it is very, very worthwhile. Loved it.

Bel Canto is a masterpiece and quite different style to all her other books.

Bel Canto, though it drifted towards the end for me.

Have read a fair few of hers and I thought Run was amazing.

Strangely it rarely gets a mention on Ann Patchett threads.

I liked Tom Lake once I realised it wasn't going to offer up any massive crisis/drama/reveal. It's a book to relax into.
I can still see the cherry trees in my mind's eye.

I actually love her essay collections even more than the novels - This is the Story of a Happy Marriage and These Perfect Days are just extraordinary treasure troves of warmth, wisdom, wit and humanity. But then Commonwealth’s far and away my favourite of novels, and the one which draws most heavily on her own background, so maybe I just don’t have much imagination! I loved The Dutch House too.

Bel Canto is her best by a mile. I also liked Run and The Dutch House. I hated State of Wonder - very silly nonsense.
