Must be available on Amazon because I’m a muppet and didn’t buy it!
he likes old style thrillers , cricket, gardening but possibly patio stuff only or pots because he’s partially disabled and can’t walk or bend well. Any recent successes ? I think there’s one about the house and things by some antiques expert but can I think what it’s called? Course not!
book and brandy is a good inoffensive gift right ? He’s so so hard to buy for !

For “old style” thrillers, have a look at the British Library Crime Classics series. They’ve reissued various books from their archives. You can order for delivery direct from them or through any bookshop (eg Waterstones) or Amazon.

The Spy and the Traitor by Ben Macintyre.

Or a classic is Rogue Male by Geoffrey Household.

Dick Francis, Sidney Sheldon are old time thrillers.

I've just read Pied Piper, by Neville Shute. Off the back of this I picked up A Town Called Alice. My 24 year old son picked it up, and said in a tone of surprise that, actually, it was very interesting.

My son has also discovered John Le Carre. Which apparently auto-corrects to John Lewis.
