Has anyone read this? Written by a Mexican author in 1951. Thought to be the inspiration for the south American “ magical realism” genre of the 1980s. Reading it in Spanish ( badly, using google translate every other paragraph). Don’t know what to make of it. Don’t understand a lot of it and when I do, it’s pretty macabre. Would be interested to hear others’ views.
