Half His Age by Jennette McCurdy - anyone else read it?

I'm really ambivalent about this book. The author wrote a memoir called "I'm Glad my Mom Died" which was brilliantly received but I haven't read it yet. Got it on hold at the library.

It's an easy read with good writing, loads of themes & the 2 main characters are equally flawed. Pretty dirty in parts though. I'm no prude but some scenes had me wincing.

Anyone else read it? It makes me want to read the author's memoir even more.

I'm Glad My Mom Died is fantastic, I loved it.

Didn't finish Half His Age, the sex got a bit much for me and the story didn't grab me at all.

Hi there, yeah the sex was a bit much for me too (one scene in particular was way too much) but the story itself wasn't too bad. I liked the dynamic between the older/younger couple who both had problems. Of course the older one should've known better, but he was a bit hopeless.

Looking forward to reading the memoir.

Yes. I thought it was superb. I agree the sex was a bit much but that was the point. I liked the character growth and the changes in the power dynamics. Possibly the best book I have read so far this year.

I did enjoy the ending!

I thought it was a bit meh. I also winced at parts. A friend in work recommended My Dark Vanessa its about a teacher/student relationship and a much better read.

I'm glad my mom died was excellent.

My Dark Vanessa does look good, thanks! Got that on hold at the library.
