Any other Barbara Comyns fans/fanatics out there?

I love this writer. So much of her stuff is out of print now although you can get some of her books on ebay. I have yet to meet anyone else that has read her stuff and would love to discuss her work. She was published by Virago.

I have all books you mention - however haven't readthem in about 10 yrs - will re-read so we can discuss !! I do love her charcters,and she has a really unique witing style,v distinctive.I am a book worm,but just can't remember how i got into her books, i do know that once i had started i couldn't stop!

I love the way her protaganists are often slightly bemused by life. I love her eccentric but natural style. Its never forced. What one do you think you will reread first?

I think I'm going to start with Our spoons...this was the first one i read, and even now i can remember her discription of that tiny little artists garret they live in to begin with. I am a fast reader(god,i sound like my ds!!) so as soon as i finish my book tonight i will begin!! I shall report back to this thread on Sunday eve,ready for discussion!!! Sadly i think i did judge a book by it's cover(oh and publisher),i seem to think iwas drawn to the books by their great titles and covers!However,it was a good decision.

if you like her have you tried sylvia smith? fab too. (linked in my mind as similarly strange.... in a good way)

I think I did read out of the red into the blue but I have never been able to get hold of it again. Ok I shall read spoons again but cant promise I shall finish it (new baby!).

Control - What has she written? I would love to find another author I love. I hate the fact that there will never be any more BC books!

Going to bed now, feeling strangly elated. Maybe thats a bit sad but who cares?
