Suprisingly I’ve enjoyed and am enjoying her other titles even more than the popular serial killer series.
I’ve binge read the co-worker, the surrogate mother and and the inmate. I’ll check out any others I haven’t read next.

any other similar authors you would recommend?

I must say I listened to 2 of Frieda Mcfadden books and found them interesting enough and I wanted to find out what happens in the end. Only to find the twists at the end a bit silly.

But then I listened to Ward D. And it was excruciatingly bad . And it has had the effect of making me never want to bother with any more of her other books.

I haven’t read Ward D yet!

Ward d was the only one I read. I particularly hated the twist ending. It felt like it played into really unpleasant stereotypes. Good to know her others might be better.

John Marrs writes excruciatingly bad, twisty thrillers in the same vein as Freida. I tried both authors because people rave about them, I hope all those people get coal for Christmas.

Same. John Marrs I gave more of a go than Freida and enjoyed his more. But I won't be reading anymore from either of them.

I read the housekeeper series and right from the beginning I kept thinking this is excruciatingly badly written but this author has sold millions and made a fortune!
I then found I couldn’t put the book down. It was like trying to stop eating a tube of Pringles 😂

The Coworker was so oddly written that I did wonder if it had been produced by AI.
Sorry, Freida, if you are a real person!

I find Alice Feeney far superior to Frieda McFadden. Still a bit far fetched but much better writing style. His and Hers is great and is coming out on Netflix as a series in January. They have moved the location to America from England - which I find frustrating

I loved the teacher

lazymum99 · 19/12/2025 15:02

I second His and Hers by Alice Feeney. Much better written than the Frieda McFadden ones. Shame about the tv series being set in the US. I think it will spoil it

I have listened to quite a few Freida McFadden audiobooks on the Libby app. I like something I don’t have to concentrate on while I’m doing stuff around the house. There are plenty of authors whose books I find completely unengaging but I have enjoyed most of the FMcF ones I’ve listened to.

I got heavy AI vibes from the couple I have read too.

Freida publishes way too many books a year to not be getting some help from somewhere. It explains the low quality writing as well.
