I downloaded it a couple of years ago and tried to read it but just didn't get it. I've just read it and loved it.

I need to go through the remainder of my unread books now.

Yeah I love it. Agnes is such a brilliant character. I’ve read a few Maggie O’Farrell novels and it’s my favourite.

SleafordSods · 08/12/2025 21:25

I loved it too @BG2015.

wizzbitt · 08/12/2025 21:39

Me too! A great read.

I loved it, looking forward to the movie that’s coming out in January 🙂

Yeah Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley are pretty much my two favourite actors.

SleafordSods · 08/12/2025 21:51

I didn’t realise there was a film!

watchuswreckthemic · 08/12/2025 21:55

I also loved it. I don’t think a book has ever made me cry so much. I also didn’t realise there was a film coming out!

vincettenoir · 08/12/2025 22:04

It Looks really good from the trailer.

staringatthesun · 08/12/2025 22:27

Such a good book, it really stayed with me. Looking forward to the film, even though I'm not sold on Paul Mescal as an actor generally.

HelenHywater · 08/12/2025 22:28

I couldn't get into it either. Perhaps I need to try again. Everyone I know loves it.

Wolfiefan · 08/12/2025 22:30

I didn’t know there was going to be a film. Loved the book.

MiddlingMarch · 08/12/2025 22:30

It took me a wee while to read it, but i loved it. Oh, but I cried so much. There is no way I will see the film in a public place though.

BG2015 · 09/12/2025 07:05

The film coming out spurred me on to read it as I hate knowing that there's a book first.

I read it, it was well written and readable, didn't love it though. Maybe I'm just getting old (definitely am) but I find I'm usually disappointed with the latest novels that everyone raves about.

ArcticGrass · 11/12/2025 08:24

I loved it, read it when I was going through a patch when I couldn’t get into books so I have a soft spot as it kept me reading…..but such a traumatic read at times, but not all of it. I don’t think I can face the film.

Hallelujah2020 · 11/12/2025 09:00

I couldn’t get into it the first time I tried and then just started it again years later and loving it

sometimes it’s just the right book but wrong time
