I can't remember the name of a book and it's bugging me

It was by a man, and it's about all the books he read as a child and how they helped to form his adult character. It was published probably about 5 years ago, and was called something like "the boy that books made", though googling that doesn't give anything I recognise. He talks a lot about Little House on the prairie, and Sci-fi. I wanted to recommend it to someone, but gave away my copy and now can't remember the title. Can anyone help?
