Did anyone used to read these when they were a kid?

Weren't they all about twelve and in charge of babies?

Yes - I remember those books - that and Sweet Valley High. Would be regarded as highly irresponsible these days leaving children in charge of children

loved Sweet Valley High... very mild romanticism!

I loved SVH as well. I think I had nearly the whole series, including the specials. Spent most of my pre-adolescent years wishing I was a twin!

I read many of the Babysitters Club. And SVH (with all its spin offs)

Just had a nosey on amazon for SVH and Babysitters. Have had a nostalgia trip. Even the pictures on the front of the books are the same as when I was young. Just realised this is adult fiction
But on the same thread does anyone remember a bit further back and Enid Blyton's Folks of the Faraway Tree? Only thinking about it cos I loved it as a child and just recently had my first child myself, it's one of the books I'd love to read him in the future.

I loved babysitters too. Esp Logan and mary-anne, quite liked stacy too, but really didnt like malory or kirsty.

Think I probably read them all but they were very easy reads and would only take me a day or two.

Did anyone else get quite offended when people refused to hand over there babies for you to babysit at the age of 12?

Once I was a nanny I was quite surprised it wasnt as easy and fun fun fun as the babysitters club. They never seemed to mention changing nappies, how frequently some children throw up or wee themselves or that mothers of pfb are much harder work than the baby.
