I could have sworn I read a great book by her some 10+ yrs ago so when I saw a review of THE THIRD ANGEL, (praising it) I got it out of the library and took it to lunch.

By page 35 I was utterly bemused. I had no sense of who the characters were just what they wore and ate (and drank and who they slept with).

I thought "this is very strange" then it dawned on me, was I reading CHIC LIT???!

Is she a chic lit writer? Have I got her confused with some German novelist?

more magic realism if I'm thinking of same woman. American I think... wirtten quite a few with a sort of new age/spiritual theme

Oh its definitely not magical realism. I wish it had been, as that might have been interesting. And I don't think this was new age or spiritual.

It was literally about what 2 sisters were wearing, liked wearing, didn't like wearing, and the food they were eating. And the fact that one was going to marry a blond bloke and the other one slept with him.

any other suggestions anyone?

does sound like bad chicklit when you put that detail in

GustWriter · 02/06/2008 18:21

but I do think you're right about her being American - !

I wouldn't put her in the chick lit band, fiction yes but definitely not chick lit. Green Angel was not one of her best books in my opinion.

Its THE THIRD ANGEL - a new one. HAve you read it yet? what do you think?
