I've been trying to get into a good thriller.
and my friend recommended "The Last Mrs Parrish" to me. I ready "The Housemaid" recently (which I didn't really rate) and was shocked at the similarities between the two, they are pretty much identical stories and then further shocked that Mrs Parrish was released first in 2017 and the housemaid in 2022.

How on earth has the author Freida McFadden been allowed to get away with this. Especially as the Housemaid is now being made into a film? I didn't ready any more books by the author as I found teh writing style very flat,. monotone and simplistic but her books are all huge best sellers. Really perplexed by the whole situation, that she can publish books so obviously a copying another,.and be a bestseller to. Anyone else think this?

Also if anyone does have some thriller recommendations? I love a good procedural thriller with complex characters and layers.

Have you read Before I Go To Sleep, The Girl on the Train?
I have also loved books by John Marrs, Karin Slaughter, Liz Nugent and Peter Swanson.

I really didn't like the Housemaid so haven't read any other by the same author but if you are publishing the amount that she does it seems to be quantity over quality.
