I went to my local library today and every other novel on the shelves was a written by a celebrity. I find this utterly depressing. The book market is a commercial enterprise that is hard for real talent to break into without a following. So aspiring novelists now have to up their online presence to reassure publishers that they have a ready made market?

Yup. It annoys me too. I wouldn't mind quite as much if they were well written, but just because someone has an aptitude for acting, for example, doesn't necessarily mean they can write just means they can pay for a ghostwriter.

Shame on the idiots who fall for it!
