Just finished this amazing book and I am bereft as I didn't want it to end. What a beautiful coming of age novel that perfectly captures the excitement, energy and headtbreak of youth. (While celebrating the contentment brought by a good marriage and the love of children). Just wondered if there any other fans out there and if her other books are as good? I think I read the Dutch House a few years ago but it didn't make as strong an impression as Tom Lake. I might go back and reread it though.

I’ve just started on the audiobook, I’m enjoying it so far. I absolutely loved the Dutch House in audio, it was narrated by Tom Hanks the ending stopped me in my tracks.
I can see both books lending themselves to becoming films.

I just read it. I loved the description of the cherry farming but I found the story itself utterly implausible. I really enjoyed Bel Canto.

Commonwealth and Bel Canto are very good OP, I've also read The Magician's Assistant but wasn't as keen on that one
