Cazalet Chronicles for summer reading? Or?

I'm looking for books set mainly in the summer months, in the UK or Ireland. I have all of the Cazalet books, unread, do they fit the bill? If they don't, please recommend books that do. I'm stuck in England this summer and have no appetite for reading about beautiful Mediterranean beaches etc!

I'd say they'd be perfect.

I adore them. Great idea for a summer read.

I loved them. You could also try The Whalebone Theatre by Joanna Quinn which has a similar feel.

Cazalet chronicles were fabulous, enjoy

murder mystery series set in Dungeness / Romney marsh area of Kent present day by William Shaw are also great

I love them and they would be perfect for that. The kind of book/series you wish you could read for the first time again.

Absolutely yes. I heard a book reviewer on the radio yesterday saying that she limits herself to one book from the Chronicles per year because she wants to make them last.

I just binged the lot in one hit. They were such a treat.

A Month in the Country by JL Carr, set in the summer of 1920.

I'd say a perfect choice. They are my comfort read. I also echo the suggestion of A Month in the Country which is a perfect evocation of post war rural England. If you haven't already read it then The Go Between by LP Hartley is another great summer read. It was on the school curriculum when I was a lass but I don't know how widely it is read now.

Perfect for summer reading. Might have to reread.

The Cazalets will be perfect.

Also summery - The Chamomile Lawn.

Best books ever - listening to them on Audible for the billionth time and it’s is like a coming home to an old friend

The Shell Seekers by Roasmund Pilcher is wonderful. Maybe for next summer?
