Hello. I always try to read the Booker longlist.

Can anyone guess what might be on there this year? Any dead certs?

Worthy winner imo

Blast, I stopped reading because of the whole older woman/teenage boy thing. I'm surrounded by the DDs cohort of 'thank you Mrs Bookengine' Kevin & Perry types. Nice enough lads but totally the ick about that early chapter.

Worth picking up again?

I read the sample on kindle app (I do that a lot) of the first couple of chapters. Good grief. It’s like reading a porn mag. Does it get better? Bit surprised SJP was into this.

I didn’t hate Flesh , just not really my kind of book. The flatness of the style wore a bit thin for me , as did Istvan’s apparent lack of an interior life. And his taciturnity. I quite enjoyed it but would never have picked it over Land in Winter or Flashlight.

Well, having read this thread I've added Love Forms and Seascraper to my wishlist. So thankyou all.

I think Flesh does get better. The only very sexual bit is really that first section which is abusive.

I listened to it and think the audio worked well.
