Show me your bookshelves, please.

I love when I take out all the books and rearrange and it’s all tidy but I also enjoy that my shelves include the odd picture, other things that are important to me.

DH thinks the shelves should have nothing on them but books OR ornaments/pictures.

Either way I would love to see everyone’s bookshelves.

I basically feel my shelves are about me (he doesn’t actually have books or things really, by choice).

I have nothing to show you, but I admit that I'm wistfully envious when I see gorgeous book collections in magazines, or sometimes behind people when they're being interviewed on television.
Sounds like your DS is being an intrusive pain. Sorry.
