What is this PG Wodehouse book?!

Please help me figure it out before I go mad! All I can definitely remember is that it starts, more or less, with a muscular young man skipping rope/exercising in the yard of the boarding house where he lives in London. I think the general plot of the book is that he goes to work in a country house as a footman or valet or something - quite possibly to pick up insights as he's writing a book on the theme? I could have made that up though! I *think that he falls in love with a maid who turns out to be incognito herself? Again I'm really not sure about that though.

It's absolutely NOT Jeeves and I'm pretty certain not Blandings either.

If you can solve the mystery I will be very glad!

Could it be ‘A Gentleman of Leisure’?

the plot is familiar to me too, I’m trying to remember more!

It's Something Fresh, occasionally published as Something New. It's the first Blandings novel.

You're right, it is! I Googled Something Fresh before posting on here but the synopsis didn't seem to fit! But it is after all. Thanks!
