Please help me find this (kids) book!

It's a kids' chapter book (8-12 market).

The front cover shows a city (possibly London?) overrun with plants. This is essentially the plot of the book- plants have recently started growing out of control and taking over cities.

I'm almost certain it has a female author.

I think it's a fairly recent book- published within the last couple of years.

Thank you in advance!

The Thames and Tide Club?

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 20/02/2025 21:02

Ignore me! It’s not that at all! I was just thinking of the front cover because mine loved it and then realised that’s not what it’s about 🤦‍♀️

Magpie69 · 20/02/2025 21:05

Greenwild?

IButtleSir · 20/02/2025 21:21

Neither of those, sadly 😕

The Bongleweed by Helen Cresswell?

IButtleSir · 20/02/2025 22:07

Not those, either, I'm afraid.

Do you remember any more about the plot?

IButtleSir · 20/02/2025 22:15

I only read the blurb, but I think it was about a young girl who was living in London and was trying to find out why the plants had started growing so dramatically. I'm almost certain the front cover showed London landmarks overgrown with plants.

timbitstimbytes · 20/02/2025 22:41

city of secret rivers?

ItalianChineseIndianMexican · 20/02/2025 22:46

I was going to day The Day of the Triffids too!

cariadlet · 20/02/2025 23:00

I doubt it's the day of the triffids - that was aimed at adults; had a male author and waa published more than 70 years ago!
Doesn't fit the criteria in the op.

I think it might be the secret wild - you need to know how to work with ChatGPT to get to the answers you want!
