Death and the Penguin plus sequel

I enjoyed Death and the Penguin but hated the ending so I was pleased to read the sequel. I enjoyed it except I hated the ending! Seemed really rushed

i know the whole thing is far fetched and supposed to be so but the ending just seemed too much!!

was wondering what others thought!

I absolutely loved Death and The Penguin, DH did too. I liked the sequel but it didn't make the same impression on me which is to be expected because part of it is about the unusual idea.
I've not had as much luck with the couple of other Kurkov's I have tried.

Thanks for answering!! I’m glad he wrote the sequel because I thought the end of the first one was not satisfactory!! I guess the second one closed the first one for me and have no need to go back for more Viktor (although would like to know how Misha fared)

yes I read one of his detective books. I thought it was interesting as historical detail but didn’t have any of the quirkiness

I've not read the sequel to Death and the Penguin but I read Grey Bees post Russian invasion which I adored. Worth looking at the map when you read it because most of the places mentioned are real.
