Anne Enright

I hadn’t read any of her books before but was given ‘The Wren, The Wren’. There is some heart-achingly beautiful prose. It’s not an easy read.
Can you recommend any of her other books?

I read the Green Road last year and currently reading The Actress. There's something special about her writing. Beautiful, and so assured. Neither are an onerous read (if that's what you meant about the poetry, rather than the content being heavy going?) Would recommend either novel.

I second The Green Road, and also The Gathering. I loved The Wren, The Wren. I've read The Actress and The Forgotten Waltz too - they're not bad but weren't my favourites. I'll read anything from Anne Enright!

I heard her recently on a repeat of Desert Island Discs, she sounded such a warm and lovely character, I have been meaning to read her since.

I loved Actress.

I have The Wren The Wren on my tbr pile.
