What is this book - ww2, two men!

Has anybody read a recently written book about two men in ww2? I think the cover had a picture of them standing back to back on it? Maybe with a red background?

I was flicking through some Instagram book recommendations the other day and it came up as something to read if you enjoyed The Nightingale. I got the impression it was a book that had been pretty popular on TikTok this year and I might have this bit totally wrong but possibly the two men were in love and were torn apart by war.

Anyway I totally judged a book by its cover and thought it looked like something I'd like to read and now I can't remember what it was called or find the page where I found it! Just wondering if it rings a bell for anybody?

Sounds like the cover of In Memoriam, although that is about the First World War. Could it be that?

I've actually just finished reading this, wasn't a huge fan and nearly DNF. I was bored in the chapters describing their time at their boarding school. I liked the 2 main characters and their awkwardness around each other but it was only meh.
I don't thing the 2 books have much in common apart from being set during a war.

I LOVED this book. One of the best I've ever read.
