What book is this? (Kidnapped child, postman?)

A group of children feature << really quite sure
Someone has a dog << fairly sure, probably most kids' books did
Two of them are brother and sister << less sure

One of the children is kidnapped. It's resolved when one of the children is talking to the postman (80% sure) and figures out that he is the kidnapper. Turns out he kidnapped the child because...following is vague memory, likely faulty...the child's parents are going to sell the post office they own and the postman will be out of a job.

It was a children's book in a UK library in the 90s but of course could be older. Unclear if it was part of a series. Feels like it was set in the UK.

It sounds like Enid Blyton's Five Find Outers Series. Can't remember the exact title without looking it up. There were 15 in the series.

Missed the bit about the post office being sold, so I think I'm very wrong.

Thanks for the reply! It's not an Enid Blyton one. I adored her and collected most of her books so I'm confident it's not one of hers. About the only authors I can rule out are Enid Blyton and Roald Dahl! I obsessed over the two of them as a young 'un.

It doesn’t have a postman but it kind of reminds me of a book called Kidnap at Denton Farm which I think was part of a series - about a group of kids who solve adventures but more “modern day” than Enid Blyton, i.e.80s/90s. In this book, one of the gang gets kidnapped because her dad has a wind turbine and some locals are opposed to it. So maybe it’s another book in the same series?
