I like a nice easy read but am a bit sick of "little tea house by the bay" with a single handsome , yet gruff vet and an animal needing immediate attention over which they fall in love

Love Fiona Gibson, Fiona Walker , Jilly
But also love Dawn O porter and a few more thriller type books.
I've just devoured the entire works of Keith Pearson especially the Clement series - can really recommend those as nostalgia / for time travel fans and for what o felt were great characters. Reading is my escape from drudge and sadness in real life but saccharine sweet predictable stories isn't cutting it this week !

Do you like ghost stories? The British Library has a series of themed ghost story collections, many of them in Kindle Unlimited and also a series of detective story collections. There are also some Agatha Christie novels in KU, as well as others that don't cost much.

ETA: romance is my go-to when I need my brain de-cobwebbing. I can't read too much of it, but it makes a nice change from heavier stuff, especially in the hands of a writer who knows what they're doing - Trisha Ashley and Jenny Colgan are both very good.

I have read all of Jenny colgann. She's excellent and it's beautifully written - the descriptions of the environment especially. Love her. Couldn't get into Trisha as much. I'll give it another go though

I'm a big fan of easy but not twee reads but I lean towards mysteries.

Murder mystery - Rebecca Topes series set in the Cotswolds with character Thea as a house/pet sitter

Family saga - The Cazalet Chronicles

Some great ideas here. I wish I could wipe my brain of the Jenny C ones set on the island with the hotel as I adored them
