Just finished this and wept - was gripped by the story, characters and is beautifully written. Great holiday read - so romantic and made me want to hug my kids and DH all night!

Its a great title. Who wrote it and what genre is it?

cjsausie · 01/05/2008 20:06

funny i was just mulling that one over and in the beginning i really enjoyed leos and found the old war stuff a bit less interesting but then about half way through i was much more gripped by the russia tale . sobbed even more when i read the bit at the back about it actually being his family ! WOW!

Danny Scheinnman (Sp?) is a Richard and Judy book but that puts some people off but it is really great and i think on a par with the Book Thief

yeah i found myself just wanting to shake leo too but found the roberto guy really irritating - could just imagine this sleazy guy
feeling choked just thinking about it all now and now more flowers and chocs to win me over - next time DH must complete gruelling thousand mile walk

I have just finished this, agree, good book

did anyone else keep flicking back to the map of russia? and I also liked all the snippets from his notebook

do people really not want to read something because it is on a Richard and Judy list?
