Straightforward-ish Thrillers/Crime

I'm looking for ideas for Christmas gifts! My Dad has always been a big reader who enjoyed thrillers/crime novels but has dementia. The last book he read was apparently Winter in Madrid, which he did enjoy but soon will probably be too complex for him. I tend to buy him books for Christmas, so I'm throwing this out there for suggestions!

Legal/historical mysteries also good.

It might be worth looking at Barbara Nadel's Inspector Ikmen novels. They've been made into a BBC series called The Turkish Detective, which is lovely and gently but also great mysteries. Might be good for someone with dementia as he could watch the series and the characters would be familiar.

I’ll take a look, thanks!

The books by Chris Carter are fab, tense, but easy reading.
