First book I've finished in ages. I am struggling to get into fiction just now. Loved how much I learned from this book and the bits about the authors own life. Can anyone recommend something similar? Thanks ☺️

I'm currently reading and enjoying The Giant on the Skyline by Clover Stroud. I like to have some non-fiction to read too and this just fits the bill.

You could try another Katherine May - The Electricity of Every Living Thing is good. Also enjoyed the Ballast Seed - another non fiction memoir type book with some interesting history as well.

I also loved Wintering. Try Calm Christmas by Beth Kempton, a very similar vibe.

Thanks for these suggestions, brilliant to have some ideas. I think I liked the travel element too so I maybe need to take a look at that. I like the look of her other books so that's a starting point

If it's a travel element you like, then perhaps Names for the Sea: Strangers in Iceland by Sarah Moss might appeal. It's about the year she spent teaching at a university in Iceland, moving there with her family. There's bits about Iceland and its geography & history too.

The Wheel by Jennifer Lane feels similar to me and I really enjoyed both books.
