Hello all!

My reading so far this year has mainly been non-fiction/educational with the odd fiction or crime novel thrown in.

I've realised though that everything I've read so far has been quite heavy and/or sad and I could do with something more uplifting!

I'm not hugely big on romance novels but will give almost anything else a go!

Thank you 📖

I've just started Jilly Cooper's Riders. Already loving it.

P. G. Wodehouse is about a light and joyful as it gets – beautiful prose as well.

My big discovery of the last few years has been Douglas Adams. I'm working my way through everything he wrote. Intelligent, funny, entertaining and endlessly interesting.

Brian Blessed's autobiography had me howling with laughter. It's best if you listen to him reading it though.

I'd also recommend Stephen Fry reading Sherlock Holmes. Laying in a hot bath listening to that is my idea of heaven.

Patrick Fermor's A Time of Gifts always lifts me, and so does Evelyn Waugh's Sword of Honour trilogy.

Terry Pratchett. Clever, funny, satirical, lovely.

IMO Going Postal is the best, but there are so many others to enjoy, depending on your tastes. Witches? Vampires? Daft academics? Werewolves? Underappreciated coppers?

I’m listening to the audio book of Marion Keyes’ The Woman Who Stole My Life. It’s thought provoking and humorous. Not heavy but not too frothy either.
Only halfway though so can’t tell you if the ending will be a massive letdown but I’m enjoying it. I like the characters too. The characters in the last book I read (not a MK) weren’t likeable and I didn’t really care about them.
