My suggestion was The Horse Dancer by Jojo Moyes

Try Flying Changes and Riding Lessons by Sara Gruen (she wrote Water for Elephants).

Jilly Cooper? Her Rutshire novels are horsey, along with a lot of other, not always good, stuff.

I read a few Jilly Cooper's years ago when they first came out, may give Riders another go as can't really remember it

Oh I nearly forgot, Sheltering Rain by Jojo Moyes , although not an exclusively horse book, it is set in the Irish countryside and does feature a few.

It's a great novel, even if you don't like horses!

In the Pink by Molly Watson, read it several times, really funny as well. A recent find Forging on and Where there's Muck by Catherine Robinson, about Farriers, very funny again.

Horse Boy - Robert Isaacson

• true story about a dad who travels across Russia meeting the horse tribes, as he realised his autistic son had an affinity with horses. Lovely book.

The Sound of Distant Cheering by K M Peyton

Horse Heaven by Jane Smiley is wonderful.
