I just heard Liane on Womans Hour talking about her latest book. I've not read any of her work so if you like her novels, what would you say is a good starting point?
TIA.

Just to add, her latest book sounds like my kind of thing but is quite pricey at the moment.

Not what you’ve asked for but ‘Apples never fall’ is recently been released on bbc iPlayer if you want to watch an adaptation of her book

TorroFerney · 27/09/2024 12:19

I am reading Nine Perfect Strangers only because I watched the TV show and liked it - enjoying it so far. Well I didn't seek the book out, it was in the charity shop for £2!

MelodyMalone · 27/09/2024 12:20

I'd say any of them, really. Have not read all, but read quite a few and found them v enjoyable.

Sally Hepworth is also good and along similar lines.

sunonthetrees · 27/09/2024 12:20

Big little lies. Way way the best one, IME.

DancingPhantomsOnTheTerrace · 27/09/2024 12:41

Big little lies and Truly madly guilty are my two favourites. But I like almost all of them.

I didn't like nine perfect strangers and found it to be quite different to all her others. I personally wouldn't start with that one.

What Alice forgot was excellent and my first Liane Moriarty read. This prompted me to binge read all the rest of her books.

Yes!! My fav

I'm currently reading Nine Perfect Strangers which I'm enjoying but I agree with previous posters it isn't her best.
I loved "Apple's Never Fall" but I'm not sure whether I'll watch the adaptation on i-Player because I already had such strong pictures of the characters in my head.
Big Little Lies, Truly Madly Guilty & What Alice Forgot are all very readable too. Available on Borrow box (if you have that). They come up as Audiobooks on Spotify from time to time if you have that too... (perfect ironing companion)

YellowphantGrey · 27/09/2024 16:57

Join your local library and get them from there. You cam request the newest book once it's out too as most libraries swap books between areas

HouseFullOfChaos · 27/09/2024 17:01

Nine perfect strangers isn't a good one to start with IMO. It's two very different halves separated by a very very strange chapter.

My first of hers was The husband's secret. I really enjoyed it as an introduction to her writing.

LeoOakley · 27/09/2024 17:09

I have read a few including some mentioned above plus The Husband's Secret, The Hypnotist's Love Story and The Last Anniversary.

I enjoy books from this author and regularly see them for sale second hand.

I usually add books from an author I like to my Amazon wishlist, then monitor for offers and discounts.

Onehappymam · 27/09/2024 17:10

The Husband’s Secret!

Also, What Alice Forgot.

Yes I would agree with this. I went on to read more after reading The Husband's Secret first. I may not have, had I read Nine Perfect Strangers first.

All fantastic apart from Nine Perfect Strangers and Apples Never Fall Far - start with Big Little Lies ,then The Anniversary.

Drivingoverlemons · 27/09/2024 17:21

I am both reading and listening (depending on where I am!) to Her Husband’s Secret and listened to Big Little Lies on audiobook. I really like the reader. And the books are great. Just what I need right now.

pastapestoparmesan · 27/09/2024 17:46

My favourite is Three Wishes which hardly ever gets a mention

InnerPlop · 27/09/2024 18:41

I've only read Big Little Lies, but it's one of my favourite books ever! Think I read it in a couple of stints over one weekend. Couldn't put it down!

TheMauveTiger · 27/09/2024 20:29

Thank you all for your recommendations. I've bought The Husband's Secret.

The husbands secret was the first I read, followed by the hypnotists love story but you really can’t go wrong with any of them.
I love Liane Moriarty. Currently reading Apples Never Fall.
I’m trying to thing which was my favourite. Either Nine Perfect Strangers or Big Little Lies.
