Kindle Unlimited help needed

The latest book for my Book Club is quite expensive in paperback or Kindle but up popped an offer for Kindle Unlimited, 99p for two months, and the book for free, so I signed up.

Didn't really know what it involved but it looks to be a kind of library where you can "borrow" books but will lose them when your subscription expires. Is this right?

The problem is that the book I ordered hasn't appeared on my Kindle. My Kindle is a really old, basic one with no fancy features but I have no problem with buying books and them downloading OK. So how do I access the Kindle Unlimited book?

I think when I stopped my Kindle Unlimited subscription the books disappeared from my kindle reading list.

Mine just downloaded as they did with bought books; although I have some vague memory that I could only borrow a set amount at one time? So if I returned one another would download.

Yes, the book is just on loan to you, it will be returned when your subscription runs out.
Go to your Amazon account, then to manage your content and devices to see if the book is there, if it is try sending it to your Kindle.

Unlimited is like a paid library.
You can have 10 books at a time while you are a member. I don't think they vanish instantly if you cancel tho.
I often search and borrow on my.phone and then sync my kindle as its old and alow now.
Check you have synced?
Also, go to your amazon account (the app will do) and you can see your subscription and make sure yours is still active/ inactive.

If no luck seeing it on your kindle, you could download the Kindle app on your phone and read it there. I read all my books this way now.

I'm only wanting to download one, for now, so having too many isn't an issue.

When I look at my Kindle Unlimited subscription details on my phone, the book is showing. But on my Kindle, when I do Sync & Check for Items, it says No new items

If I click the "Read now" button then it does appear on my phone, but I would much rather use my Kindle.

I Download them directly from the kindle store in my kindle. Then they appear after a few minutes.

OK thank you all for your help. When I posted, I was worried that I would only be able to access the book via the app, but reading that yours download normally to your Kindle made me try again.

As I said, the book was showing in my Kindle Unlimited subscription list but not downloading to the Kindle. I tried "returning" the book and then "borrowing" it again and hey presto, it appeared on my Kindle. Phew!

Update for anyone who is having the same problem:

I borrowed more books during my subscription and they didn't download either. Return and re-borrow didn't work. I used the Amazon chat feature and the person there manually downloaded them one by one, somehow.

My subscription has ended now but I still have the books. I imagine that when I do a sync with my account, they will disappear, so I'm holding off for now.

They download as standard on whatever you have set as the default device. If you go to content and devices in the account details, it should show you what is set as your default device (click on the device for info).

My Kindle is my default device and when I purchase a kindle book, it automatically downloads to that. Kindle Unlimited books don't.
